| Goodbye Jake |
| 11.13.04 (6:59 am) [edit] |
Our trip to my uncle's farm in Humboldt was both happy and sad. We had a good time. Leah had a blast playing with our cousins, and I got to relive a little bit of the country life.
Grandma watched the kids while uncle and I went to the bar for a few, then driving in an old pickup through the back roads. We went offroading through fields and stole a couple of square bales and then sunflowers from another field. We ended up a friend's place where we had a few more beers. Then we drove home through the fog and arrived around 3 or so.
The next day we all piled in the car to go hunting for wild boar. That was pretty cool. We didn't see any, but we found where they were bedding for the night and when uncle fired a shot at one that was charging him, he scared them all out of the bush. They went out the other side though so we didn't see any from the car. We saw a few deer though. Hunting opens on them on Monday, so maybe maybe maybe I'll get a bit of deer meat. Mmmm.
Soon enough, it was time to leave. Jake had made friends very quickly with Moca, uncle's other dog. Uncle took Jake's collar off and said, "There. No more collar. He's a farm dog now." I'm happy that I found him a good home. No more kennels or chains or fences for him. He's such a good dog, I know he's going to do well there. He'd be a good hunting dog for uncle if he's trained properly. Anyhow, he tried to get in the car with us when we were leaving. It was kinda hard to tell him that he had to stay. It's those EYES!!!
Anyhow, we drove out of the yard and started home when I heard Leah crying in the back. I asked her what was wrong and she said that she missed Jake. So I put her in the front and we talked about why Jake had to go to the farm. She seems okay with that now, but there's an empty hole in our home now. We miss him.

Only a zombie bunny will do.

Maybe another kitty? What about a pot-bellied pig? A rodent of some kind. I miss my puppy!! I need another animal.
